How do I prepare for my MRI? |
|
There is no need to alter your diet or medication prior to an MRI examination. However, you are unable to bring certain items into the scan room. Here is an example of some of the items that will need to be secured prior to entering the MR scan room. - Eyeglasses
- Hearing aids
- Coins
- Keys
- Credit cards
- Watches
- Removable dental work
- Hairpins
- Cell phones
- Pagers
- MP3 players
- Other metallic or metal-containing objects
Please note that a patient may not qualify for an MRI exam if the following conditions exist: - Pacemaker
- Interal Defibrilator
- Aneurysm clips
- Internal infusion pumps
- Spinal stimulators
- Implants of the inner ear
- Pregnancy
Please alert Northeastern Pennsylvania Imaging Center to any of the above conditions when you schedule an appointment. Please bring in any device cards that may have model numbers of these devices. We have access to a world-renouned database of devices tested for MR safety. Quite often one model of a device is tested "MR Safe" while another model is not.
